But we can also prevent cancer. 6 Healthy Lifestyles That Reduce the Risk of Cancer

The number of cancer patients continues to rise day by day. The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that by 2030, there will be an increase of 27 million new cases. Compared to 2020 with 19 million new cases, which is about 40% of cancer can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle.

On the occasion of World Cancer Day, BDMS Wellness Clinic would like to participate in a health care campaign to reduce the risk of cancer, which consists of 6 methods as follows:

1. Do not smoke and reduce alcohol.

Cigarettes are classified as carcinogens. Secondhand smokers and those who are near secondhand smokers are also at risk of developing cancer. People who quit smoking have a longer life expectancy compared to those who still smoke. In addition, drinking alcohol damages the gastrointestinal tract, increasing the risk of 7 types of cancer, especially in people who smoke with alcohol consumption, are more likely to develop cancer in the mouth or throat than smoking or drinking alcohol alone.

2. Not obese, and exercise regularly.

Maintaining a healthy body weight and preventing weight gain reduces the risk of many types of cancer. Maintaining your weight can be achieved by choosing a healthy diet and keeping your body active.

Exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, cardio exercise, alternating with muscle strength and stretching, will have a great impact on health.

3. Eat a healthy diet

Nuts, grains, vegetables and fruits are a source of dietary fiber. Along with avoiding the consumption of processed meats such as sausages, salami, ham, bacon, etc., which are carcinogens in humans (group 1), and the consumption of red meat such as beef, lamb, and pork should be reduced to no more than 6 spoons of rice per day.

4. Be careful with sunlight

Although UV light is necessary for the synthesis of vitamin D, too much of it can cause skin cancer. Try to avoid exposure to the sun during the day. Apply sunscreen regularly, and reapply every two to three hours. Try to stay indoors, and wear a coat or sunglasses. Also, avoid using tanning beds.

5. Vaccinate against the virus

Viral infections are the cause of cancer, such as hepatitis B virus (HBV), which is one of the causes of liver cancer. HPV (Human papillomavirus) is a major cause of epithelial infections and genital and anal diseases. Vaccination is one of the ways to help prevent cancer. It is recommended to consult a qualified doctor to obtain the appropriate vaccine.

6. Schedule health check-ups for cancer screening.

Health check-ups not only help reduce the risk of developing many diseases, but also help detect cancer at an early stage so that it can be treated before it progresses, such as blood tests for cancer markers. Mammogram to screen for breast cancer Colonoscopy, cervical cancer screening, x-ray and CT scan, etc. Talk to a qualified doctor. to get the most suitable cancer screening for us.
