4 Foods to Boost Your Immunity in Cool Weather

 

When cool weather comes, it can make some health problems worse and even leads to serious complications. To prevent you from picking up illness, dress in layers of warm clothes might not enough. It is important to make sure that you keep yourself well-nourished. There are many necessary foods for the body during this season. Here are some nutritious foods that can help keep you warm in cold weather:

1. Rice Milk

Warm rice milk in a cold day is a good choice for people with lactose intolerance or allergies to milk, soy, or nuts. Rice milk, especially purple rice milk, contains many antioxidants such as oryzanol and anthocyanin which help increase skin elasticity and moisture underneath the skin. It also helps lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. Some rice milk is fortified with bone-building nutrients such as vitamin D and calcium.

2. Almond

Contain lots of healthy fats, fibre, protein, magnesium and vitamin E. The health benefits of almonds include lower blood sugar levels, reduced blood pressure and lower cholesterol levels. They can also reduce hunger and promote weight loss.

3. Chilli and Pepper

Spicy food like chilis and peppers contain capsaicin, which can increase metabolism and promote good circulation. When you eat spicy food, your body’s temperature is raised; therefore, it increases your blood flow and gets your heart pumping.

4. Ginger

The anti-inflammatory gingerols and shaogals in ginger root will help to relieve a sore throat quickly, and they also kill rhinoviruses, which cause colds in the first place.

Staying healthy during the cool weather is more than avoiding a cold or flu. It’s also about protecting your body and eat healthily. A healthy diet strengthens the immune system, helping the body resist viruses or infections.
