World Health Day 2026
World Health Day 2026 is held under the concept of "Global Action for Universal Health Coverage".
"Self-care: the key to a sustainable health system"
World Health Day 2026 is held under the concept of "Global Action for Universal Health Coverage" to raise awareness that all people should have equal access to essential and quality health services. It is not limited by the burden of health expenses. Disease prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care throughout the lifespan. This concept emphasizes that "being healthy is a fundamental right of everyone."
Thailand is currently facing health challenges from chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases, which are linked to lifestyle habits. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), NCDs were the cause of 68% of deaths in Thailand last year, or about 429,600 people per year.
Meanwhile, Thailand is entering a "super-aged society", with the elderly estimated to account for more than 28% of the total population by 2033. As a result, the demand for health services and long-term healthcare continues to increase.
In addition to access to health services, Promoting "self-care" is the beginning of good health. Today, we would like to share with you a variety of ways to take care of yourself for good health. So that everyone can apply it appropriately in their daily lives. As follows:
- Dimension 1: Physical Dimension
Taking care of your physical health is the basis of good health. Start by eating a nutritious diet, exercising regularly. Get enough rest, including avoiding risky behaviors such as smoking. Alcohol consumption and drug use These guidelines help reduce the risk of chronic diseases and long-term health problems.
- Dimension 2: Psychological Dimension
Mental health is an important component that affects the overall quality of life. Mindfulness means paying attention to your thoughts and feelings, as well as dealing with stress appropriately, such as relaxation exercises. Allocating time for relaxation and favorite activities, as well as optimism. Good mental health can help strengthen your ability to adapt to situations and reduce the risk of future mental health problems.
- Dimension 3: Emotional Dimension
Emotional health care is learning to understand. Accept and express emotions appropriately. Being aware of one's own emotions, whether it is happiness, Sadness or anger will help you manage your emotions better. Talking to a trusted person or seeking professional advice are all part of emotional care that can reduce tension and strengthen your mind.
- Dimension 4: Social Dimension
Social relationships play an important role in the well-being of individuals. Healthy interactions with family, friends, or the community can help build morale, a sense of belonging to society, and reduce feelings of isolation. Giving and receiving appropriate social support, as well as participating in community activities, can all help promote better physical and mental health.
- Dimension 5: Spiritual Dimension
Spiritual health care is about understanding the meaning and value of life, which can vary from person to person. Whether it is adherence to religious beliefs, Meditation or setting clear life goals. A strong spirit will help create inner peace, strengthen the mind, and help you face life's changes or challenges with stability.
Taking care of yourself in all dimensions, both physically and mentally. It is the cornerstone of sustainable well-being, and it is something that everyone can start on their own in their daily lives. When everyone is aware and has appropriate health care behaviors, it will reduce the risk of illness. Reduce the burden on the health service system and promote the quality of life of people in society as a whole.
The Global Action for Universal Health Coverage concept not only reflects equitable access to quality health services. It also points to the important role of self-care as a collective force for everyone to help strengthen and sustain health systems. So that everyone can be healthy and live a quality life in the long term.
"Because everyone's good health is the foundation of a sustainable health system."
